India Irie: Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship

Posted by madelinesmind on February 6, 2008

I love music I truly do, it can match my mood and lift me, create a specific atmosphere, make me laugh or cry. India Irie’s Testimony: Vol.1, Life & Relationship does this and sooo much more.

Each song relates to something that I’ve been through in my life, many of the emotions, thoughts and feelings raised are generic to most peoples lives. My kids love this album and thankfully it’s one that I can actually share with them. On our way to school in the car we listen to track six, There’s Hope!! WOW what a song to start your day with…”There’s hope, it doesn’t cost a thing to smile, you don’t have to pay to laugh, you’d better than God for that!” With this in their ear’s my girls go skipping off to school expecting great things.

Theres’ another song called “I Choose” this one get’s me going too. Life is so short and we spend far too much of it accentuating the negative as opposed to the positive, worse still, we spend much time blaming everyone else who our circumstances without taking personal responsibility for our words thoughts and actions. I have a huge part in what happens to me and when I remember this I take responsibility for myself and am left feeling far more satisfied having grown immeaserably. I choose says all this and a bag of chips more.

I Choose…

To be the best that I can be.
I choose
To be authentic in everything
I do.
My past don’t dictate who I am.
I choose.

Hey if we could just take this on in our lives how much more satisfied we would be in our experiences.

I love every song on this album, there are some songs that I think were written just for me right where I am in my life. You have hope and you have choice as long as you have breath to breathe.

Two other songs that have caught me attention are “Good Mourning” an absolutely amazinly written song that deals with life after a relationship has ended. And one of my favourites “This too Shall Pass” that reminds us that no matter what you are going through…. it will pass.

Well done India, this is an album to keep and remember!

Souled Out! August

Posted by madelinesmind on September 2, 2007

OK so this month’s Souled Out was yet again fraught with problems, not least because our usual venue Hackney Central was …. wait for it….Repossessed!! With less than a week to go we found out that there was no hope of us using the venue and so we had to find a new one so off to Cargo we went!

It was a bit strange having our fourth Souled Out in different surrounding and although Cargo has some great pluses it just wasn’t the same for me as Hackney Central. It was a good evening though with UK bands Mowglee, Clinton Jordon, Jahaziel (fabulous), Cecelia who dealt some hard hitting spoken word and all the way from the US of A Onitsha who was wonderful. This little lady was a powerhouse of praise and worship. She rocked and Shep Crawford the outstanding producer extrodinare was on point!

The next Souled Out in on 18th October and looks set to be another amazing night… God willing.

Beautiful People: Leon Timbo & Kendra Robinson

Posted by madelinesmind on June 27, 2007

Well Souled Out was a raging success and I can truly say that I had a great time, regardless of my gammy knee. What was a real pleasure was meeting two beautiful people in the form of Leon Timbo and Kendra Robinson.

Leon is just lovely, our whole family warmed to him and boy did he make us laugh. A really warm and inviting person who can be silent but deadly!! What struck me was his gift of music and ministry and the fact that he can draw everyone and anyone into worship. I will never see Luther Van Dross’s “I don’t wanna bore you with it” in the same light ever again. Absolutely awesome. Leon has to come back to England and soon. He has a work to do!

Kendra Robinson, in some respects is a younger version of me, she is a strong gifted woman who is not afraid to say it as she sees it. I think I may have mellowed though over time, Kendra is still raw, but has a beautiful inclusive spirit which is very endearing. She is some lady, she’s a publistic who introduces artists “to the world” and she’s a mean cook which she painstakingly proved to me as she introduced me to real southern macaroni pie!! One look at it is enough to put 1/2 a stone of fat on your hips! It was gorgeous but surely something your could not eat every day!!

I feel privileged to have spent time with these two, hard working, committed to the cause beautiful people and I hope to send time with them again some day soon!

F!RSTBORN PRESENTS: Souled Out! 21st June

Posted by madelinesmind on June 6, 2007

Each month Firstborn Media Group puts on a christian show case called Souled Out, which showcases the spectrum of christian music available today. We focus on up and coming artists in the UK and bring in an international artist to add a little flavour. We feel that there are many outstanding artists that just aren’t getting the platform they need to take their music to the next level. Souled Out aims to provide that platform so that the gospel reaches the people.

Whether you are a person of faith or not, if you like good music then you need to find yourself at

Hackney Central (The Old Railway Station) on the corner of Mare Street and Amhurst Road, London, E8 1LL on

21st June 2007

at 8:00pm

with £10.00 to get in!

Artists on the night are: Four Kornerz, Leon Timbo (USA), The Dawn, Clinton Jordon, sugar black spoken word.

It’s sponsored by United by One and Verse II Impress so be there and I’ll meet you on the night! It’s a good way to spend a tenner!

Wow what I night!!

I’ve only just recovered enough to blog about it. This months Souled Out Christian Music showcase was nuts!! It was off the hook, mad, crazy and absolutely fabulous darling!

We were blessed with the likes of Zuwa the spoken word with Alan Charles the raging Protocol boy did people like them and these all from the UK.

This month from the states we had the awesome Izzy not only is this guy an awesome musician but he is someone with a real heart for God and the most beautiful temperament I just love him and we had Keshia McFarland the powerhouse from Atlanta, my girl tore up her set and she is just beautiful! And she has my love for shopping so I’ve found a friend for life!

It was a magical event and it’s truly worth the hard work that Firstborn Media Group (my other company put into it!)

Shea Norman & Tedd Winn Fabulous!!

Posted by madelinesmind on February 27, 2007

Last week my husband and I and our business partner Trevor Williams put on an event at Hackney Central in London called Souled Out. It was our debut event which showcases christian music and spoken word. We had a fab and favourite DJ, DJ Elnino from United by One, support acts, Meridian Flo, GK Real, Karl Nova and the lovely Chan from Manchester. It was a fab night, but best of all were our US Gospel artists and now life long friends Shea Norman and Ted Winn. They were absolutely fabulous.

Shea was found by world renown Gospel artist Fred Hammond at and after party event where Fred heard him sing and decided that he really wanted to work with him. Shea’s voice is delicious and his heart for his ministry completes the package. Ted manages Shea but is a gospel artist in his own right, he is well known for singing with the Richard Smallwood Singers and as Ted from Ted and Sherri. Now Ted wasn’t supposed to be here to sing, but some how we got him on stage and he let the world know just how talented he was!! Awesome!

Over the last week I’ve found me two brothers I never had in these guys, they have made me laugh, made me proud and have taken a peice of my heart all for themselves. I can’t wait till they come back to England. They are both fabulous in their own right.

Anyhow if you’re not doing anything on the 19th April 2007 you come to the next Souled Out most probably at Hackney Central again at 8:00pm in the evening for some outstanding music and a really great time.
